The first days of Spring in New York

Winter is still holding the lakes under ice.

Long awaited warmth comes slowly to take ice off the pond. 
The little patch of open water gets large.
It's a welcome change for the ducks!

You don't see woodpeckers every day, unless you walk through Central park!

Then suddenly...

there are sprouting buds on a magnolia tree!

And then, you see it...

among pitches of dirty snow...

...very small, and fragile...undeniable sign of Spring claim! 
The Spring is here!!
