Feeding Ring DIY

 Feeding Ring DIY

Fast growing floating Duckweed makes a beautiful thick carpet on the water surface of aquariums.

It looks very pretty and keeps aquarium water clean.

Duckweed also leaves no open water surface for feeding fish.

We can make floaters for keeping some water surface clean from Duckweed.
Let's use two disposable plastic straws for making a simplest floater.
I choose bendable straws for this project.

Pinch end of one straw and insert it in the end of another straw.

It takes only two straws to make a small square size floater.

We can use four straws for making a larger size square floater.

Now I am going to use six straws for making a rectangular shaped floater.

Plastic straws floaters can be made in a pinch.

Also we can use silicon air tubing for making round shape floater.

Cut off a piece of tubing of desirable length.

I use clear sticky tape for connecting both end of the tubing.

It's simple like that.

Put the floater in the aquarium.

Now I have open space inside of the floater for feeding my fish :)

Use more floaters to allow more light for other aquatic plants in the aquarium.

And we can use floaters for preventing duckweed from spreading around.

Square and rectangular shaped floaters fit better in standard boxed shaped aquariums.

Floaters are really easy to make and replace as necessary.

Floaters can be used in any size aquarium with floating plants.

Have fun and happy aquariums :)
