What kittens actually want from aquariums

A little kitten enjoys watching aquariums and whatever moves outside in the windows.

It's a matter of weeks, if not days, for kittens to figure out how to get on top of the aquarium.

I kitten-proofed all my aquariums with lids in advance.

Caring for an aquarium while three kittens constantly try to reach inside the tank is a challenge.

Kittens seem to be attracted and try to catch fast-moving fish.

That's what it looks like to me.

Kittens use any opportunity, any gap in the lids, to get their paws wet.

I wonder what kittens actually want from aquariums?

My kittens have a gourmet diet 4 times a day, often including yummy wet cat fish food.

So yes, there is a chance that kittens want to eat fresh fish too.

First, let's ensure that the kittens are not hungry.

Now let's catch some fish from the aquarium.

I put two fish in the cats’ drinking water bowl.

My cats are always nearby when I open the fish tank :)

Let's watch what my kittens are going to do about the fish in the bowl.

It is the first time ever I see the drinking water bowl getting so much attention from my kittens.

Eli is always the most adventures among my kittens.

And now too, he is the first to try to catch the fish.

Teddy usually eats the most— this time, he passes up this opportunity to eat fresh fish.

Now it's Lisa’s turn.

She just tested the water and... duckweed?!

Okay, let's try to put the fish in a clear, shallow bowl to imitate the aquarium.

Of cause Eli, it's for you...

And again, even with less water and a clear glass, the result is the same.

None of my kittens eat live fish.

Eli is just playing around and... still prefers the real aquarium.

Lisa also prefers the real aquarium.

Though she seems to have a different interest in it - the plants!

Particularly, she likes to go after common duckweed.

Okay Lisa, only because you insisted.

I forked and served some duckweed for Lisa to try.

And that is what my kittens actually want to eat from aquariums.

My kittens eat duckweed!
