In the beginning of September, I picked some Watershield Brasenia from local ponds of Staten Island.
The Watershield plants have oval-shaped leaves floating on the water surface.
Purple backside of the leaves covered in a protective jelly-like coat.
Watershield grows in shallow water.
I want to try growing Watershield in my 29-gallon paludarium.
I put Watershield in the aquarium on September 19th.
Here you can see new leaves grown two months later in November 14th.
Another two months passed by, and you can see the Watershield plant grows very quickly even in the limited light of this tank.
8 months later at the end of April.
Apparently, Watershield new leaves, stems and even roots are eatable.
Watershield looks nice and easy to grow in aquariums.
Have fun and happy aquariums :)
