Outdoor Cats Struggle Big Winter Storm NYC
Appreciate your support!
Here is a wish list Amazon link for feeding this feral cat colony:
Volunteers feed outdoor cats every day.
Feral and stray cats recognize regular volunteers and come to meet us from far.
Seeing cats greeting us like that makes my day on any day.
Cats, like little kids, show their feelings toward you sincerely right in your face.
There are a lot of outdoor cats in need here.
We do what we can every day.
Get sick cats to the vet clinic as needed.
As winter came, drinkable water became scarce for cats leaving outside.
We bring hot water at least once a day to keep cats hydrated.
And now winter storms hit the city with snow, gusty winds, and freezing temps.
About 15-inch thick snow blanket covered the entire city.
We rush in an emergency to dig out cat houses from under the snow.
I wonder how many cats may have gotten stuck inside under the snow without access to food and water...
It's beautiful out there, but cats don't drink salt water from this river.
Even the hot water we bring turns into ice in the matter of an hour or so.
I brought a couple of gallons of hot water in an insulated bag.
I’ll get you water to drink in a minute.
First, let's remove the ice bricks.
In this weather, cats are looking for drinkable water more than for food.
Alright, here we go.
Don't fight! I promise there is enough water for everyone.
I've never seen cats thirsty like this.
Now it's time to serve warm wet food.
And it looks like we need to add more warm water again.
Cats are amazing in many ways.
Look at this one.
This cat just got water and a good meal.
What do you think this walking on the snow cat is looking for?
Oh my-my. That's right. Good kitten!
Now, I will have to move more snow away to make space for the loo.
Cats have needs.
Simple needs like access to drinkable water during emergency weather days.
We help outdoor cats with hot water and food at least once a day.
We are a group of volunteers - it makes it easier to help cats.
You can do it too.
Stay warm!
Have fun and happy cats :)
