Aponogeton Aquarium Garden

January 5th, 2017
I got a bulb of an aqua plant known as Aponogeton (Ulvaceus).

It's about 1.5 cm long.

 Drop it in an aquarium.

Fish are curious about the new thing.

The aponogeton starts growing during the first week!

The 2nd leaf sprouted during the last week while the 1st leaf grows about 6 cm!

A new leaf sprouts every week!
The 1st leaf rolls in a ribbon.
I decided to replant the aponogeton in a new nursery aquarium.

The month old aponogeton looks gorgeous in this small aquarium!

It has nice white roots.
There is no fish in this nursery yet.

Here is a 2 month old aponogeton.

More leaves grow in the last month.
The old leaves grow wider and longer.

The 20 cm tall aquarium is already small for this plant!

The leaves are now about 30 cm long.

They curve, filling up the tank.

Here is the top view.
I have also noticed that even large adult guppies cannot pull out the aponogeton leaves.

I did not dig the bulb in the substrate.
And now it lays on its side.

I like the bright green color of the plant.
It grows incredibly fast even during short winter days!

It looks nice in different colors backgrounds.

Have fun and happy aquarium :)
