Trapdoor Snails senses

Trapdoor Snails Senses

Here you can see a wild caught trapdoor snail moves around caring an operculum.
Trapdoor snails use the operculum to hide behind it in the shell for protection.

Trapdoor snails have poor vision - it's not good enough to see predators.

Though, snails are very good at sensing touch.

And snails can sense vibrations very well.

The trapdoor snail hides instantly behind the operculum sensing even lightest vibrations or a touch.

The snail is going to stay hidden as long as it takes sensing any vibrations on the shell.

And trapdoor snails have a great sense of smell - they sense the food no matter where you drop it in aquariums.

Have fun and happy snails :)
