Guppies 1 Year Around

July 2017
These guppies were born 1 year ago.

They grew up in this 1.5 liter aquarium.

The female is now about 3.2 cm.
The male is about 2.8 cm.

Their size has not changed much in the last 3 months.
I chose this couple for breeding when they were about 6 months old.

They had their first 2 babies on January 15th, 2017.
The female in this aquarium is one of those babies.

The older couple had another 3 babies on February 25th, 2017.
You can see those babies in this aquarium.

8 more babies were born on April 6th, 2017.
Most of them are hiding behind plants in this aquarium.

13 more babies were born on May 14th, 2017.
I put them in these 2 aquariums.

Here you can see 2 aquariums with 13 babies born on June 16th, 2017.
 These are the youngest babies.

This parenting couple of guppies had babies 5 times in the first year of their lives.
The total is 39 born babies.
4 of the newborn babies died and I culled 1 fry because it grew too large for my project.

You may find this and any future info on Breeding Guppy - Small Size Strain Data sheet.

This guppy couple are helping to find answers for difficult and, at times, controversial questions.

Their growth and breeding progress serves as a baseline to compare with my ongoing projects.

You can and are welcome to use all this info for your projects.

Thank You All!
I am ready for new adventures.
Have fun and happy fish :)

  1. Hello, nice work. One question, do you remove the pregnant guppy or the mail guppy when she is about to deliver or you leave both mail and female together during birth? Thanks.

    1. I keep both parents in the same aquarium at all times, bu remove babies to a new nursery the same day they are born.
