Donkey's Tail Succulent Growing in Water

I got cuttings of Donkey's Tail succulent plant (Sedum Morganianum) also known as Burro's Tail on May 27th, 2019.

Remove bottom leaves and put the stem of the cutting in a cup filled with dechlorinated water.
I use a plastic straw to secure the cutting in the cup.

In about 3 weeks, on June 19th, I have prepared a planter for a 3 liter jar aquarium garden.

The cuttings of Donkey's Tail already have fine roots.

Put the cuttings in the planter.

Make sure the roots of the plant always stay in the water.
You can add water through the hole in the planter.

Or just lift the planter and pour water directly into the aquarium.

Make sure the tubes of the planter always stay above the water level.
I keep all my aquarium gardens with fish near a window away from direct sunlight.

May 21st, 2020.
One year went by.
The Donkey's Tail plant has grown considerably.

The roots remain about the same size.

I think it is time to make a new cutting.
I make it about half the length of the plant.

Again, let's remove the bottom leaves from the cutting.
There is more space between the new leaves on the cutting with roots in water.

The Donkey's Tail makes a nice looking, virtually no care, addition to my aquarium gardens.

Have fun and happy aquarium gardens :)
