I bike day or night all year around in all weather.
Buy Radio Recorder on Amazon (paid link):
And biking with music playing on my favorite FM radio makes it much more fun.
There are many FM radios made specifically for bicycles.
Those radios are waterproof, dustproof, and shake proof - all must-have features for biking.
I would trade all those must-have features for one - the ability to record FM radio stations on the go.
And sure enough, I found on Amazon a small toy-like FM radio with the RECORD function.
Click the Buy Now.
It arrives a couple days later.
Let's unpack this MP3 Radio Speaker.
It looks and feels like an old fashioned smart phone - a toy to play with :)
The string to hang the radio doubles as an antenna for the radio - that's very smart!
USB charging cable with an audio connecter.
And a NOKIA battery - OMG, really?!
NOKIA used to make the best phones in the world!
There is also a manual...
Let's put the battery in.
The power on/off switch is on top.
Switch the power on.
Now, let's do an auto scan for available FM radio stations.
It could take a couple minutes to complete the scanning.
I speed up the video to save your time.
It picks my favorite 102.7 FM station among 31 other stations :)
Now I am going to charge the battery using the provided USB cable.
I plug the charging cable into the external battery to make sure the radio can be charged on the go.
A red LED indicates that the radio is charging even while the radio is playing - that's great for long rides!
Now, let's put a micro memory card in the radio - any and all recordings will be stored on this card.
Press the red REC button one time to record whatever plays on the radio.
Press the red REC button again to stop the recording.
It automatically starts playing the recording it just did.
Press and hold the red REC button for 3 sec to delete the playing recording if you don't want to keep it.
I love this one button recording and deleting.
This radio is not shake-proof.
With the radio attached to the handlebars, buttons switch on their own while I ride on a bumpy road.
So, here is my easy work around to make the radio shake-proof and dust proof.
Put the radio in a chest pocket or in an arm-band.
That's all there is to it - simple and very effective.
3W speaker of this radio is loud enough for me.
And you can hear the radio from 15-20 feet away.
As a matter of fact, I don't have to use the bell while the radio is on.
People hear my radio before I start ringing the bell - that's pretty cool too!
Have fun and happy biking :)
