Culture White Worms for Feeding Fish

Culture White Worms for Feeding Fish

Buy Grindal worms locally through Craigslist:
Or buy Grindal worms on Amazon (paid link):

I shared with you in my previous video where to find worms.

I also found white worms on a couple occasions during Fall - Winter season.
I could not find white worms during warm season.

Initially I put all white worms in the same containers where I've been culturing red wigglers for feeding my Eastern Newts.
White worms grow 2-3 cm long making them sizable food for newts and adult Endlers fish and such.

Here you can see the worms farm I build for use in my apartment.

It serves my newts and fish really well!
Please check my video about worms farm for more details.

I check on worms every week to add food, mist the culture and to collect warms for feeding newts.

White worms often gathered on the cover and walls of the containers.

I am going to pick small red wigglers for feeding my newts.

This is one is a perfect size - as long as the adult white worm.

Let's setup a culture of only white worms in a separate container.
I've been using the same 16 oz plastic containers for culturing Grindal worms.

Wilted leaves serves as food and as medium for worms.

Now let's collect white worms.

Use a soft brush for collecting worms from the walls.

It's easier and safer to rinse worms off of the brush in water.

A little of dirt is necessary addition for worms cultures.

Make sure the cover has some holes for air circulation.

I keep feeding and moisten the culture once a week as I do for red wigglers worms.
There are two main differences between otherwise the same looking White and Grindal worms.
White worms grow up to 3 cm while Grindal worms grow only up to 1 cm long.
And very importantly, the White worms don't like warm room temperatures.
I only find them during cold season.
Grindal worms on the other hand reproduce all year around at normal room temperatures.

White warms disappeared from all my cultures in about 2 months time.

Have fun and happy worms :)
