Cat Grass for Feral Cats
Feeding feral cats every day is a commitment.
In rain.
In snow.
Everyday.
Cats get it.
The whole colony of feral cats comes far outside to meet caregivers.
Cats have ways to show appreciation.
It is what it is.
We all need love.
Yes, babies, yes, we love you too!
In the middle of spring, I set up 2-inch shallow flower pots for growing cat grass.
Sprinkle seeds on top and cover it all with moss to hide the seeds from birds.
It took five days for cat grass seeds to sprout.
I bought a one-pound bag of this cat grass seeds on Amazon.
Check the paid link in the description of the video:
It took about 2 weeks for sprouts to grow 2-3 inches tall.
So now it's a good time to put the cat grass in places where cats can have easy access to it.
All cats notice the grass right away.
Keep in mind that only some cats will show great interest in cat grass.
Those few cats will come and literally chew the grass just like that.
Cat grass helps cats with their digestion and serves as a natural hairball remedy.
Providing cat grass prevents feral cats from digesting other potentially toxic plants.
All feral cats benefit from eating cat grass.
Use scissors to trim tips of cat grass, making about one-inch-long cuts.
Sprinkle the cat grass cuts on top of the wet cat food or just mix it all together.
Served this way, all our feral cats get to eat cat grass sprouts.
We never tried mixing cat grass cuttings with dry food to tell you anything for sure about it.
Here are our feral cats’ top dinner picks, because even the wildest of kitties deserve a five-star meal: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2IQE4KXHYUXG6
Thanks a million for your support!
You’re the cat’s meow!
We planted a total of 3 flower pots with cat grass.
It may seem as much more cat grass than our feral cats can reasonably consume.
Though in reality, we trim cat grass from one flower pot during one week, letting the other two grow more.
This way, we have a continuous supply of cat grass through the whole season.
Here you can see all three pots with one-month-old cat grass.
The shortest grass was trimmed most recently.
The shallow flower pots make it easy for cats to chew on cat grass while providing stability.
6-week-old cat grass wilted in one of the flower pots.
The cat grass in the other two pots still looks good.
I am going to trim off all the cat grass in this wilted pot.
Now let's sprinkle seeds on top.
I still have two-thirds of the seeds in the bag available for later.
I water the cat grass about 2-3 times a week on hot days.
And again, it took about 5 days for seeds to sprout.
By the next week, it is already long enough to get trimmed.
Growing cat grass takes little effort while enhancing feral cats’ diet greatly.
Let me know in comments your experience with cat grass and other plants for cats.
Have fun and happy cats :)
