I select the smallest, thus the weakest, male and female to further breed a dwarf sized guppy strain.
Guppy males can be identified at a younger age.
Although, there is a chance of stunted development.
It has to be taken in consideration when choosing a guppy that looks like a tiny female.
All newborn guppies look like females.
Healthy males mature a couple months before females.
But stunted males may mature as late as females do, if ever.
For this reason, I selected 3 fish for this example.
One is a male.
The smaller two look like females.
I put them in a well established (for many months) nursery aquarium.
I still have to make a video about the land moss growing in this nursery ;)
My old Aloe plant goes on top of this aquarium.

Here is a younger pair of guppies, born from the same parents on June 16th, 2017.
Fish nibble algae growing on leaves of the Peace lily that has been growing underwater in this nursery.
These 2 guppies are a month younger but noticeably bulkier than guppies shown in the previous aquarium.
Measured under 2 cm each, they are a good pair for breeding dwarf guppies.

Hurray!
This couple has a newborn baby!
It is the 2nd generation baby from the 1st parenting line.
I have two parenting lines.
I move newborns into nurseries that were prepared in advance.
Use a pipette to transfer a newborn.
The identification label goes on top.
