This fight between two Endlers males happens in aquarium populated with 3 Endlers males and 2 Least Killifish females.
You can see the Least Killifish females on the back.
It was my final experiment on checking compatibilities of this two related species.
Endlers males compete for females attention by showing off without making any physical contacts with opponents.
However as you can see in this fight both males are trying to hurt each other badly.
Full body slams... and going after opponents fins could cause terminal disabilities.
It is the first time ever I see Endlers males fight like this.
The fight last over 10 minutes before I intervene.
I simply added one young Endlers female in this aquarium.
Here you can see her.
The males were too engaged in the fight to see anything around them for another couple minutes.
The Endlers female is not scared to swim around fighting males for picking her snacks.
Eventually, the fighting males noticed the Endlers female and...stopped fighting.
Here you can see the males already showing off attending to the female as they usually do.
This was one and the only time I've ever seen Endlers males fight.
Here you can see the same Endlers males and female 6 months later.
There are many babies.
And males have been acting normal ever since the fight.
The fight highlighted a remarkable behavior pattern.
Peaceful Endlers males became aggressive toward each other in prolonged absence of females.
It explains why many Endlers males often die while kept in groups without females.
Have fun and happy aquariums :)
